Changing the world, one step at a time.

Every day, we have the opportunity to travel a new path, gain new experiences with opportunities to grow and become a "new you".  We never know what each day will bring.  However, the set of tools that come along with the journey along with the opportunity and experience, truly creates one miraculous toolbox given to us for sharing with the world.

Thankful to look back and say, thank you, for opportunities to find a slice of me in who I want to become with my recent events of volunteer time.  Sometimes, we lose sight of what is vital because of our wants and what we think are to be our needs end up being something completely different.  The rewards are truly miraculous.

Thankful for the gifts of friendship, parenting and listening brings in moments like these.  And, thankful for those who recognize help and need along this journey.  It couldn't have been possible without each amazing tool given for the week long event.

Our reward, the love and compassion from others, stated in actions vs. words.  A gift unto its own.  And, one endearing gift, that would many truly consider doing another volunteer job, all over again.

Always, remember, tackle your fears, embrace the differences, love the change, and feel the reward.

And, remember...
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

What Road?

We are given many new opportunities to travel down our journey in life.  What we choose, may depend on the vision we see ourselves heading, our frame of mind and our experience.

Through life, there have been several roads I have chosen not to travel because one or all of them (vision, frame of mind, and/or experience) would have led me down a different path.  Taking the easy road isn't always the one that will help one grow into the person we see ourselves becoming.  Sometimes, the journey needs to be long and tedious to gain the lesson we need in life.

Our path in life is not always meant to be green and an easy stroll through this journey.  It's meant to have some stumbling blocks along the way to help us revisit our goals, decide if our experience and knowledge gained has changed our frame of mind and given us a stronger vision.  Mine is to change the world around me in all that I say and do.  That through every struggle in life, can come a lesson and strength to a stronger being.  That these are gifts not only to cherish but to share with the world.

So, today, I share the entirety of my favorite poem as it guided me to exploring who I've become today, the family that I've built and the home that we live in.  May the words of Robert Frost give you a bit of enlightenment and help guide you down your journey in life.

1. The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;        5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,        10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.        15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.        20
